Islamic geometric patterns have endured for centuries and continue to be appreciated and utilized in various aspects of contemporary life. These patterns serve as a unifying and lasting element in Islamic art and culture.

How can one bring richness and innovation to patterns that have persisted over time?  Through a fresh approach of combining modern tech with traditional knowledge to add extra dimensions or layers to Islamic patterns while still being true to the original traditions/patterns.

Use of Innovative Design aspects:

• Technology – Use of microcontrollers, LEDs, programming and laser cutters to create intricate designs.
• Light & Colour – Each shape in the Islamic pattern can be individually instructed to add colours with variable intensities.
• Movement – Through the use of programmed sequences, the whole art work comes to life as individual shapes appear to move throughout the pattern
• Interactivity – The user can interact via an App to create personalised pattern sequences creating vibrant individualised art works, with endless possibilities.
• Connectivity – Use of IoT (internet of Things) technology allowing connectivity to various devices, including WebApps, smart speakers, audio inputs and geolocation based services like play on sunrise/sunset.

These innovative design concepts allow users to interact with Islamic Geometric patterns in a manner not possible with a traditional static art forms. The  artwork is based on a panel of mosaic tiles from the walls of the Badi Palace, Marrakesh.
