Riaz has been researching the beauty and elegance of traditional Islamic geometric patterns since 2005. Over the years, he has analysed over 50 geometric patterns from many countries around the world.
Islamic geometric patterns are reflections of the language of the universe and are thought to reflect on the infinite. Nearly every pattern construction starts with the traditional method of using a compass, ruler and pencil and then develops into striking mixed media artworks.
Using innovative modern methods while still being true to the original traditions/patterns, Riaz has been able to produce works which are both classic and contemporary at the same time.
The aspiration is to bring these incredible sacred patterns to a wider audience and to make these patterns accessible and affordable, not just limited to palaces and mosques.
